These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of handyman and home improvement services by Daniel Norris, trading as Norris Nails Home Improvements, a sole trader operating in the United Kingdom.
Norris Nails Home Improvements provides general handyman and home improvement services. This may include, but is not limited to, repairs, maintenance, installations, decorating, DIY assistance, and property improvement works. All work is carried out to a professional standard in accordance with relevant UK practices and regulations.
Norris Nails Home Improvements reserves the right to decline or cease work at any time if the working environment becomes unsafe, the client's behaviour is inappropriate, or the scope significantly exceeds what was agreed.
All quotations are free and valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated.
Prices are based on the information available at the time of the quotation. If the scope of work changes, a revised quote will be provided.
Quotes are for labour only, unless materials are explicitly included.
Additional charges may apply for materials, parking, waste disposal, congestion zone fees, or other necessary expenses incurred during the job.
Waste removal and site cleaning are not included unless specifically stated in the quote. It is the client’s responsibility to dispose of any waste, packaging, or old items unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Bookings are confirmed upon verbal, written, or electronic agreement and are subject to availability.
Clients may cancel or reschedule appointments with at least 24 hours' notice at no cost.
Cancellations or rescheduling within 24 hours of the scheduled time will incur a £60 fee, or 50% of the quoted job value, whichever is greater.
If access is not provided at the agreed time and no prior cancellation has been communicated, it will be treated as a missed appointment, and the above cancellation charge will apply.
Norris Nails Home Improvements may waive cancellation fees at their sole discretion in cases of emergency or genuine unforeseen circumstances.
Repeated cancellations or missed appointments may result in refusal of future service.
A deposit of up to 50% of the total quoted cost may be requested before work begins, at the discretion of Norris Nails Home Improvements.
The deposit amount and due date will be confirmed in writing before booking is finalised.
No materials will be purchased and no time slots reserved until the deposit is received.
Deposits are non-refundable if the client cancels the job with less than 24 hours’ notice, unless otherwise agreed.
Payment is due immediately upon completion of the work, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Accepted payment methods: cash, bank transfer, or card (if available).
Late payments will incur a £20 fee, plus interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Clients may also be liable for any legal or administrative costs involved in debt recovery.
Norris Nails Home Improvements holds valid public liability insurance.
No responsibility is accepted for damage or failure arising from: Pre-existing faults, Structural issues, Client-supplied materials.
Liability for loss or damage is strictly limited to the total amount paid for services.
No liability is accepted for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of income, property value, or delays from third-party contractors.
All labour and workmanship are guaranteed for 90 days from the date of completion.
The guarantee does not apply to: Customer-supplied parts or materials, Neglect, misuse, or accidental damage, Normal wear and tear.
Materials and parts provided by Norris Nails Home Improvements are subject to manufacturer warranties. No additional warranty is implied beyond this.
Clients must provide safe, unobstructed access to the work area for the duration of the job.
Clients must supply basic utilities such as electricity and water, if required.
It is the client’s responsibility to obtain any necessary permissions or consents (e.g. landlord, planning permission, building control).
Clients are responsible for ensuring the work site is clear of obstructions or hazards prior to the job start.
Norris Nails Home Improvements reserves the right to pause or stop work immediately if the site is deemed hazardous or unsafe.
The client must disclose any known safety issues or hazards at the time of booking.
All work will be carried out in line with current Health & Safety Regulations.
Norris Nails Home Improvements may take before-and-after photographs of the work for record-keeping, evidence of completion, or portfolio use.
No personal or identifying information will be shared without the client’s written consent.
Outdoor work may be rescheduled at short notice due to adverse weather conditions or safety concerns.
Norris Nails Home Improvements is not liable for delays caused by weather, supplier issues, third-party delays, or other events beyond reasonable control (force majeure).
Client information is handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Personal data will never be sold or passed to third parties without permission, unless required by law.
Data may be stored securely for purposes of issuing quotes, invoices, and maintaining a work history.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
